This NPBS course is designed to inform the student about the NAME of God – YHWH. This is God’s personal name. It is the ONLY personal name God has (actually the name “JESUS” is the personal name of the 2nd Person of the eternal Godhead – from the time of the incarnation forward). God, Lord, Almighty, Father, Potentate, etc. are all “titles” that describe something about YHWH. But YHWH is His name. This course will study the name YHWH in detail, both from a biblical perspective as well as from a historical perspective. The fact that the Jewish people stopped ‘saying/speaking’ the name YHWH more than 2000 years ago has created a significant complication in that to this day, no one is absolutely certain how the name should be pronounced. This course will study the name YHWH in some depth and will provide a great deal of information and inspiration for the student in relating to Him in a personal and meaningful way. This course contains significant elements of several categories of Systematic Theology, namely, Theology Proper, Christology, Pneumatology, and Bibliology.
